lasagna noodles, uncooked
1 lb
bulk italian sausage
2 lb
ground beef
1 c
onion, chopped
garlic cloves, minced
1 c
tomatoes, (28 ounces), cut up, drained
2 c
tomato paste
2 tsp
2 tsp
salt, divided
2 tsp
dried basil, crushed
2 tsp
fennel seeds
4 tsp
15 oz
ricotta cheese
egg, beaten
1 Tbsp
parsley flakes
1 c
pitted ripe olives, sliced
3/4 c
grated parmesan cheese


1Prepare lasagna according to package directions; drain.
2Cook sausage, ground, beef, onion and garlic in large skillet over medium-high heat until sausage is no longer pink and onion is tender.
3Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, 2 teaspoons of the salt, the basil, fennel seeds and pepper.
4Bring to a boil over high heat.
5Reduce heat to low.
6Simmer, uncovered, for about 20 minutes.
7In small bowl, blend ricotta, egg, parsley and remaining 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
8Spoon 1 1/2 cups of meat sauce into 13x9 inch baking dish.
9Layer 1/3 each of the lasagna, remaining meat sauce, ricotta mixture, olives, mozzarella and parmesan cheese into dish.
10Repeat layers.
11Cover with foil.
12Bake at 375 for 25 minutes.
14Bake about 20 minutes more or until heated through.
15Let stand 10 minutes before cutting.
