This can be made with cheddar cheese (I like sharp) or any combination of cheeses to taste.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound dried macaroni, cooked al dente and drained
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon mustard, ground
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 cups grated cheese, divided (i use sharp cheddar but assorted cheeses can be used depending on your preference)
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 3 cups milk

How To Make john's favorite macaroni and cheese

  • Step 1
    Cook pasta, drain and cool slightly. Then mix with butter, mustard, eggs and salt. Add 5 cups cheese and flour and toss well to mix.
  • Step 2
    Put mixture in a 13x9 pan and pour milk over all. Press down and level with the back of a wooden spoon.
  • Step 3
    Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 35 minutes. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top and bake for approximately 10 minutes more or until custard is set and top is golden and crusty.
