italian pasta bake
This is an Italian pasta recipe that I found on the back of a package of Penne pasta. Although the original recipe didn't call for it, I also added a quarter cup of dried minced onion. You could probably also tweek it up a bit by adding a can of diced tomatoes.

Ingredients
- 1 (16 oz.) package penne pasta
- 1 pound ground beef (i used ground sirloin)
- 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
- 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 (26 oz.) jar spaghetti sauce
- 2/3 cup grated parmesan cheese, divided
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 F.

Step 2Cook and drain pasta according to package directions.

Step 3Brown meat in a large skillet with the Italian seasoning and garlic powder, then drain.

Step 4Combine pasta, meat and spaghetti sauce, mixing in 1/3 cup of Parmesan cheese; spoon mixture into a 13 X 9-inch baking dish; top with Mozzarella and remaining 1/3 cup of Parmesan.

Step 5Bake 20 minutes, or until heated through.
