elbow macaroni
1/4 c
butter or margarine
2 Tbsp
and 1 1/2 tsp. all-purpose flour
3 c
2 c
sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 c
grated parmesan cheese
2 Tbsp
butter or margarine
1/2 c
1 pinch

How to Make 'I Had A Rough Day' Macaroni & Cheese


  • 1Preheat oven to 350 F.
  • 2In a medium saucepan, cook macaroni according to package directions and drain.
  • 3In a saucepan, melt the butter or margarine over medium heat; stir in flour to make a roux.
  • 4Add milk to the roux slowly, stirring constantly; stir in the cheeses and cook over low heat until the cheese is melted and the sauce is a little thick.
  • 5Transfer the macaroni to a 9 X 13-inch casserole dish and pour the sauce over all; stir well.
  • 6Melt butter or margarine in a skillet over medium heat; add the breadcrumbs and brown; spread over macaroni and cheese to cover; sprinkle with paprika.
  • 7Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes.
