I have made this Goulash many, many times..it is delicious!

Recipe from an old Taste of Home Mag of mine.

Mary says her mother was from Hungary, and brought this recipe with her...

Ingredients

  • 4 Tbsp
    flour
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 1/2 lb
    beef top round steak, cut into 1 - inch cubes
  • 1 c
    coarsely chopped onion
  • 2 tsp
    butter
  • 2 tsp
    canola oil
  • 1 c
    beef broth
  • 2 Tbsp
    tomato paste
  • 2 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp
    paprika
  • 1/4 tsp
    dried marjoram
  • 1/4 tsp
    caraway seeds
  • 1/4 tsp
    lemon juice
  • ·
    hot cooked noodles

How to Make Hungarian Goulash

Step-by-Step

  1. In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the flour, salt and pepper. Add beef cubes and shake to coat.
  2. In a large skillet, cook beef and onion in butter and oil until onion is tender. Stir in broth, tomato paste, garlic, paprika, marjoram, caraway seeds and lemon juice.

    Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until meat is very tender.

    Serve over hot noodles.
