This recipe is from a 1961 cookbook, easy to put together, and uses common ingredients. And it's flavorful. The family and I really enjoyed this dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cups tomato juice
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons celery salt
  • black pepper, to taste
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 cups dry egg noodles (I used 4 bundles of fettuccine)
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 can sliced mushrooms
  • 1 cup sour cream

How To Make ground beef & noodles in sour cream sauce

  • Step 1
Heat a non stick pan. Once hot, add the the beef and onion and cook, breaking up the beef with a spatula and turning often, until brown. Drain any fat. (I am using a wok pan for this dish.)
  • Step 2
Add the tomato, celery salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce to the beef; stir. Add the noodles; stir together. Bring to a boil, then reduce to low, cover, and simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Step 3
(I used fettuccine noodles. 4 bundles worked perfectly, but if using fettuccine you have to wait a few minutes for them to soften - then you can stir into the mixture.)
  • Step 4
Add the bell pepper and mushrooms and stir together. Cover and simmer another 10 minutes or until noodles are tender.
  • Step 5
Stir in the sour cream, heat just a minute or two, then remove from heat.
  • Step 6
Serve and enjoy with sides of your choice.
