I have been using this recipe for over 35 years. It makes a very hearty spaghetti sauce that can really fill you up. Great with a nice salad and buttery-yummy-cheesy Garlic bread

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef or italian sausage or a mixture of both
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 medium bell pepper
  • 2 cans tomato sauce, 15-1/2 ounce size
  • 2 cans tomato paste, 12 ounce size
  • 1 can black olives, chopped, 7-1/2 ounce size (you can also use sliced olives if you desire)
  • 2 packages spaghetti sauce mix with mushrooms
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 - bay leaf
  • 1 pound pasta of your choice

How To Make fancy-dancy over the top spaghetti sauce

  • Step 1
Cook meat, drain fat. Add onions and bell peppers and cook until meat is browned and vegetables are tender.
  • Step 2
Stir in remaining ingredients and simmer for 1-1/2 hours. While the sauce is simmering you can cook the pasta you choose to serve with this sauce.
  • Step 3
Drain spaghetti and serve with sauce, top with cheese and serve with garlic toast. This is better the next day, if there is enough left.
