I have been using this recipe for over 35 years. It makes a very hearty spaghetti sauce that can really fill you up. Great with a nice salad and buttery-yummy-cheesy Garlic bread

2 lb
ground beef or italian sausage or a mixture of both
1 medium
onion, chopped
1 medium
bell pepper
2 can(s)
tomato sauce, 15-1/2 ounce size
2 can(s)
tomato paste, 12 ounce size
1 can(s)
black olives, chopped, 7-1/2 ounce size (you can also use sliced olives if you desire)
2 pkg
spaghetti sauce mix with mushrooms
3 c
1 Tbsp
1 tsp
2 clove
garlic, chopped
bay leaf
1 lb
pasta of your choice

How to Make Fancy-dancy Over the top Spaghetti sauce


  • 1Cook meat, drain fat. Add onions and bell peppers and cook until meat is browned and vegetables are tender.
  • 2Stir in remaining ingredients and simmer for 1-1/2 hours. While the sauce is simmering you can cook the pasta you choose to serve with this sauce.
  • 3Drain spaghetti and serve with sauce, top with cheese and serve with garlic toast. This is better the next day, if there is enough left.
