easy spaghetti

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 - onion, diced
  • 3 - minced garlic cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 12 ounces vermicelli, uncooked
  • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • - parmesan cheese

How To Make easy spaghetti

  • Step 1
    Put olive oil in a skillet that about 12\" wide.
  • Step 2
    Peel and chop onion.
  • Step 3
    Add to skillet and cook on medium heat as you peel and mince garlic.
  • Step 4
    Add garlic to skillet; stir.
  • Step 5
    Cook several more minutes to allow the vegetables to soften and give up a lot of their moisture.
  • Step 6
    Stir occasionally and add oregano, basil, red pepper and crushed tomatoes.
  • Step 7
    Simmer the mixture uncovered.
  • Step 8
    Meanwhile, bring a large pot of water to a boil for your spaghetti.
  • Step 9
    Salt the water and add 8-12 ounces of spaghetti.
  • Step 10
    Cook until it is just barely tender, probably 2 minutes less than they suggest on the package.
  • Step 11
    Drain but don\'t rinse.
  • Step 12
    Toss with sauce and serve on plates, top with freshly grated parmesan cheese.
