easy pantry pasta sauce

My friend's favorite, quick easy pasta sauce. Only a few things are absolutely needed, the rest are to enhance flavor! The can sizes quoted are based on making a 1 pound box of pasta. Adjust as needed for the amount you want to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 can tomato sauce (15 ounce)
  • 1 can tomato paste (6 ounces)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes, do not drain (14.5 ounces)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 4-6 - baby bella mushrooms, chopped
  • 1 pound ground meat (optional)

How To Make easy pantry pasta sauce

  • Step 1
    Blend tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, sugar and garlic in a bowl until smooth. Set aside.
  • Step 2
    Saute onions with olive oil until halfway cooked, add diced tomatoes.
  • Step 3
    If adding meat to the sauce, fry in pan with onions until brown then add diced tomatoes.
  • Step 4
    Let simmer for about 5 minutes, then add mushrooms.
  • Step 5
    Simmer until the sauce is at the consistency you desire.
