Ingredients For creamy macaroni and cheese

  • 2 c
    dry, small elbow macaroni
  • 2 tsp
    salt
  • 5 Tbsp
    butter, divided
  • 12 oz
    evaporated milk
  • 1/3 c
    sour cream
  • 2
    eggs
  • dash
    cayenne pepper
  • 4 Tbsp
    half and half
  • 2 1/2 c
    shredded sharp cheddar cheese divided
  • 1 1/4 c
    shredded colby jack cheese
  • 1/2 lb
    velvetta, cut in cubes

How To Make creamy macaroni and cheese

    Cook macaroni in 6 cups water with 1 tsp salt. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease a 13-by-9-inch dish. Combine milk, eggs, sour cream, ground pepper and cayenne pepper in mixing bowl. Mix well

    Pour cooked macaroni into baking dish. Stir in evaporated milk mixture. Dot with remaining butter cut into cubes and stir in half the cheddar all the colby jack. Distribute the cubes of Velveeta around the noodles. Stir it all while adding half and half.Pack it all down into the dish and sprinkle remaining cheese over top. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until cheese is melted. Place under broiler about 5 minutes until it starts to brown. Let stand 15 minutes and serve..
