Thus is a great recipe quick and easy with so many variations you can add chicken or shrimp, or other vegetables like broccoli. Also very versatile you can turn up the spice by adding hot sausage instead of mild.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 diced pepper, green, red, orange (whichevere you prefer)
  • 1 package italian sausage, mild or hot( sliced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 can diced tomatos ( not drained)
  • 1 tablespoon cajun seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 12 ounces uncooked penne pasta
  • 4 ounces cream cheese (softened abd cut into pieces)
  • 1 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

How To Make creamy cajun pasta with italian sausage

  • Step 1
    Turn Instant Pot on "Saute" mode. Add oil and butter.
  • Step 2
    Add onion and green pepper and cook until starting to get soft, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Add sausage and garlic and cook another 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Add paprika, Italian seasoning, chicken broth, tomatoes, Cajun seasoning, and cayenne pepper
  • Step 5
    Add pasta and use a wooden spoon to push it all down into the liquid
  • Step 6
    Place lid on Instant Pot. Make sure the valve is in "sealing" position. Cancel the "Saute" mode and set to Pressure Cook on HIGH for 5 minutes
  • Step 7
    Manually release the pressure. Remove lid and stir in cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, and heavy cream until the cheese is melted.
  • Step 8
    Sprinkle parsley on top
