classic lasagna

This was give to my by one of my girl friends Pat Belcher in 2005. So tasty I asked and received her recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 3/4 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 can (1 lb) tomatoes, chopped or pureed
  • 12 ounces tomato paste
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugr
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano leaves
  • 8 ounces lasagna noodles, cooked
  • 1 pound ricotta cheese
  • 8 ounces mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese

How To Make classic lasagna

  • Step 1
    In a large heavy skillet, lightly brown meat and onion in oil.
  • Step 2
    Add tomatoes, paste, water, parsley, salt, sugar, garlic powder, pepper,and oregano and simmer uncovered about 30 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Cook noodles as directed; drain.
  • Step 4
    Spread about1 cup sauce in bottom of 9x13 pan
  • Step 5
    Alternate layers of noodles, sauce, ricotta, mozzarella & parmesan, ending with sauce, mozzarella & parmesan.
  • Step 6
    Bake 40-50 minutes @ 350. Allow to stand 15 minutes, cut in squares.
