christy's penne/italian sausage in vodka blush

I created this recipe for my daughter. She loves Blush sauce as opposed to a straight marinara or straight cream sauce. I serve this with a salad and ciabatta rolls. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • VODKA BLUSH SAUCE
  • 26 ounces spaghetti sauce (your favorite)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup half & half
  • 1 - shot of vodka
  • - salt & pepper (to taste)
  • MEAT MIXTURE
  • 1 package smoked sausage (i use eckrich)
  • 1 tablespoon real butter (salted)
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • PASTA
  • 1 pound penne rigate pasta
  • TOPPING(S)
  • - parmesan cheese
  • - finely shredded mozzarella cheese

How To Make christy's penne/italian sausage in vodka blush

  • Step 1
    Boil pasta according to package directions and drain.
  • Step 2
    Combine all sauce ingredients and simmer on medium heat - stirring often so cream cheese melts completely.
  • Step 3
    Slice smoked sausage into thick "quarterlike" slices and sautee in butter/garlic on medium heat until they start to brown slightly.
  • Step 4
    Combime pasta/blush sauce/smoked sausage together - stirring thoroughly -- the pasta will fill with the sauce.
  • Step 5
    After plating, sprinkle with mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
