Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 8 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 cups chicken stock
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cups leftover shredded rotisserie chicken
  • salt and pepper
  • sweet paprika
  • 1 pound shell pasta, cooked and drained
  • fresh parsley, for garnish

How To Make chicken a la king with shell pasta

  • Step 1
    In a large saucepan, melt the butter, add the mushrooms and cook about 5 minutes. Add the flour, stir and cook about 3 minutes. Add the chicken stock and milk and stir until thickened.
  • Step 2
    Beat the egg yolks with the heavy cream. Keep whisking, add 1/2 cup of the hot mushroom sauce, then pour it back into the pan. Cook 2 more minutes. Stir in the frozen peas and cooked chicken. Serve over cooked shell pasta and garnish with fresh parsley.
