cat's favorite pasta sauce
This recipe has been a stapel in my family for the past 32 years. I've served it routinely for dinner parties. It's been such a success that it now has become a stapel in my friends homes in Florida and Arizona for the past 30 years! To make this vegetarian just leave out the ground beef and it taste just as good, I've made this both ways.

Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 medium green pepper, chopped
- 1/4 cup mushrooms, sliced (more if desired)
- 2 cans tomato sauce (15oz)
- 2 cans tomato paste (12oz)
- 2 packages italian-style spaghetti sauce mix
- 3 cups water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small bay leaf

Step 1In a large stock pot, cook and stir ground beef until no longer pink. Drain off excess fat. Add onion, green pepper and mushrooms; saute until tender. Stir in remaining ingredients.

Step 2Simmer 1 1/2 - 2 hours over medium-low heat.
