water

bay leaf

onion, coarsely chopped
1/4 c
diced celery
1 Tbsp
flour
1 Tbsp
water
1.5 c
noodles, cooked

How to Make Braised Beef with Noodles

Step-by-Step

  • 1Brown beef cubes in saucepan until well browned.
  • 2Add 1-1/2 cups water, salt, pepper, and bay leaf.
  • 3Cover and cook over low heat until beef is almost tender--about 1 hour.
  • 4Add onion and celery.
  • 5Continue cooking until meat and vegetables are tender--about 20 minutes.
  • 6Remove bay leaf.
  • 7Mix flour and water until smooth.
  • 8Stir into beef mixture.
  • 9Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened--about 2 minutes.
  • 10Serve over noodles.
