I have also made this with smoked sausage links and it's really good. The only change you would make is you slice the smoked sausage. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb
    sweet italian sausage
  • 1 c
    chopped onion
  • 1 clove
    (large) garlic minced
  • 1 can(s)
    (15 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 tsp
    dried oregano
  • 1 tsp
    dried basil
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/8 tsp
    pepper
  • 8 oz
    bow tie pasta
  • 1/2 c
    grated parmesan cheese

How to Make Bow Tie Pasta with Sweet Italian Sausage

Step-by-Step

  1. Remove Italian sausage from casings; brown in a large heavy skillet, breaking Italian sausage up with spatula.
  2. Remove browned Italian sausage to paper towels to drain.
  3. Drain off all but about a tablespoon of the sausage drippings; sauté onions until soft; add minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
  4. Drain tomatoes, reserving liquid. Cook tomatoes in the same skillet for about 4 minutes then add liquid.
  5. Return Italian sausage to skillet with oregano, basil, salt and pepper. Simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Cook pasta according to package instructions until done; drain and place on serving platter.
  7. Spoon sauce over pasta and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Toss lightly and serve.
