I have also made this with smoked sausage links and it's really good. The only change you would make is you slice the smoked sausage. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound sweet italian sausage
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 clove (large) garlic minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 8 ounces bow tie pasta
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

How To Make bow tie pasta with sweet italian sausage

  • Step 1
    Remove Italian sausage from casings; brown in a large heavy skillet, breaking Italian sausage up with spatula.
  • Step 2
    Remove browned Italian sausage to paper towels to drain.
  • Step 3
    Drain off all but about a tablespoon of the sausage drippings; sauté onions until soft; add minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
  • Step 4
    Drain tomatoes, reserving liquid. Cook tomatoes in the same skillet for about 4 minutes then add liquid.
  • Step 5
    Return Italian sausage to skillet with oregano, basil, salt and pepper. Simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Step 6
    Cook pasta according to package instructions until done; drain and place on serving platter.
  • Step 7
    Spoon sauce over pasta and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Toss lightly and serve.
