bonnie's slumghetti
This recipe is my Slumgoli's cousin, posted on Justapinch. I call it Slumghetti. It is something I cooked up and modified over the years. There isn't another recipe like it. Ask my kids and grandkids. Made with delicious, wholesome ingredients, simmered gently on the back of the stove. An aroma of pure deliciousness fills the air while you wait in anticipation for that first spoonful of Slumghetti. Garlic bread and a tossed salad, and you are all set for the grand finale. This humble 65-year-old recipe is straight from the Dare Kitchen. Now it is yours to enjoy! Bon Appétit!

How To Make bonnie's slumghetti
-
Step 1COOK THE SAUCE: Brown 1 pound of ground beef and five links of Johnson's mild sausage, with casings removed, using a large skillet over medium heat. Drain.
-
Step 2While the meat is browning, dice and saute the celery and onions in the olive oil, over medium heat in a large soup pot until tender. Add the garlic, cook 30 seconds, then add the meat, sliced mushrooms and chopped parsley to the mix. Stir gently and add the jar of spaghetti sauce, can of tomato sauce, 1/2 cup of water, Spices Village vegetable mix, thyme, fresh ground black pepper, McCormick Umami, and Morton Season All. Stir to combine.
-
Step 3Cook's Note: I buy my Spices Village Vegetable Mix at Amazon. It is a wonderful vegetable mix to add to stews and sauces to get more veggies in your diet. I also add it to rice and potato dishes. I even put it in my tacos and meatloaf! It is also gluten-free and non-GMO. It adds wonderful flavor to everything!
-
Step 4Cook's Note: ABOUT THE SPAGHETTI ... Your choice. I like fat spaghetti, not the skinny stuff, but that is me. You do you. You can add the cooked spaghetti 15 minutes before the end of cooking time. I like to put spaghetti on a plate and spoon the sauce over the top. My grandkids like the spaghetti added to the pot before serving. They say it is slurping good that way. However you like it, do it your way. Slumghetti is good eats! Enjoy!
