I grew up eating this delicious casserole. It truly is a comfort food for me. I have no idea who Betsy is, but this is what it's always been called. A wonderful, hearty meal!

  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 2 Tbsp
  • 2
  • 1 clove
  • 1 (28 oz) can(s)
    crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (6 oz) can(s)
    tomato paste
  • 3/4 - 1 c
  • 1/8 tsp
    thyme, dried
  • 1/8 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
    bay leaf
  • 1 tsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp
  • ·
    salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 oz
    egg noodles

How to Make Betsy's Casserole


  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Grease a 2 1/2 quart casserole dish and set aside
  2. In large skillet brown ground beef.
  3. Chop onions and mince garlic. Add to ground beef.
  4. Add all remaining ingredients except egg noodles. Bring to a boil.
  5. In casserole dish put uncooked egg noodles in a layer. Cover noodles with ground beef mixture, making sure all noodles are covered so they'll cook and not burn.
  6. Bake in 350° once for 45 minutes.
