Ingredients

  • 1 tsp
    vegetable oil
  • 1 lb
    beef sirloin, boneless cut into strips
  • 8 oz
    mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/4 c
    water
  • 2 tsp
    unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    dry mustard
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 c
    sour cream
  • 2 c
    cooked rice
  • 1
    onion, sliced

How to Make Beef Stroganoff

Step-by-Step

  1. Stir oil and meat in 2 quart casserole until beef is coated.
  2. Cover and microwave on high (100%)) until meat is no longer pink, 4 1/2 to 5 minutes.
  3. Remove meat from casserole; reserve meat and juices.
  4. Add mushrooms and onion to meat juices. Cover and microwave until mushrooms are tender, 5 to 6 minutes.
  5. Shake water and flour in tightly covered jar; stir into mushrooms.
  6. Sprinkle with dry mustard, salt and pepper.
  7. Microwave uncovered to boiling, 30 seconds.
  8. Boil until thickened, 1 minute.
  9. Stir in reserved meat, then sour cream.
  10. Microwave uncovered until hot, about 1 minute.
  11. Serve over hot cooked rice or hot cooked noodles.
