Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 1 pound beef sirloin, boneless cut into strips
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 - onion, sliced

How To Make beef stroganoff

  • Step 1
    Stir oil and meat in 2 quart casserole until beef is coated.
  • Step 2
    Cover and microwave on high (100%)) until meat is no longer pink, 4 1/2 to 5 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Remove meat from casserole; reserve meat and juices.
  • Step 4
    Add mushrooms and onion to meat juices. Cover and microwave until mushrooms are tender, 5 to 6 minutes.
  • Step 5
    Shake water and flour in tightly covered jar; stir into mushrooms.
  • Step 6
    Sprinkle with dry mustard, salt and pepper.
  • Step 7
    Microwave uncovered to boiling, 30 seconds.
  • Step 8
    Boil until thickened, 1 minute.
  • Step 9
    Stir in reserved meat, then sour cream.
  • Step 10
    Microwave uncovered until hot, about 1 minute.
  • Step 11
    Serve over hot cooked rice or hot cooked noodles.
