How to Make Traditional Creamy Macaroni & Cheese
- Cook macaroni according to package directions. Make cheese sauce while macaroni is cooking.
- Melt butter in bottom of a small sauce pan. Add flour and stir with a wire whisk until smooth. Add milk and cheddar cheese.
- Stir over medium-medium high heat until smooth and thickened. This takes about 10 minutes.
- Drain macaroni noodles and return to pot. Stir in hot cheese sauce until well combined. Add salt & pepper to taste if desired.
