This is an easy and flavorful meal that is a spaghetti or lasagna alternative. Serve with garlic bread.

Ingredients

  • 21/2 cups penne pasta
  • 2 small onions chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic- chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 package fresh baby spinach
  • 1 can spaghetti sauce
  • 3-4 tablespoons prepared pesto
  • 2-3 cups mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese

How To Make baked ziti with fresh spinach

  • Step 1
    In large skillet brown ground beef, onions and garlic- drain off fat and stir in pesto and then add spaghetti sauce and stir well.
  • Step 2
    While cooking beef mixture boil water for pasta and cook pasta according to package directions to al dente. Drain pasta in colander.
  • Step 3
    Stir drained pasta into meat mixture and simmer.
  • Step 4
    Spray 3 quart casserole with cooking spray- Add layer of meat & sauce mixture then add a generous layer of spinach and pasta and layer of mozzarella cheese and add remaining meat mixture.
  • Step 5
    Top with remainiing mozzarella cheese and sprinkle with parmesam cheese.
  • Step 6
    Bake uncovered in 365 degree oven for 40 minutes.
