This hearty comfort dish is super quick and easy for any weeknight. These ingredient amounts aren't set in stone, make yours with more pasta, more or less tomato, with lots of cheese, maybe even a green pepper. This is easy and you can make it with whatever you have around.

Ingredients

8 oz
mostaccioli noodles, uncooked
1 lb
ground beef
1/2 c
chopped onions
1 clove
garlic, minced
1 can(s)
mushrooms (4 ounces) stems and pieces
1 can(s)
(6 ounces) tomato paste
1 can(s)
(8 ounces) tomato sauce
28 oz
diced tomatoes
1/2 c
water
1 tsp
salt
1 tsp
sugar
1 tsp
dried basil
1/8 tsp
pepper
1
bay leaf
8 oz
shredded mozzarella cheddar cheese
1/2 c
grated parmesan cheese

Step-By-Step

1Preheat oven to 350 °. Cook mostaccioli according to package directions; drain and set aside.

Meanwhile, in a large skillet or sauce pan, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink.

Add garlic; cook 1 minute. Drain.
2Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce and paste, mushrooms, water, salt, sugar, basil, pepper and bay leaf.

Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
3Discard bay leaf.

Stir in mostaccioli.

Spoon half into a 13x9-in. baking dish. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese; layer with remaining meat mixture.

Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
4Cover and bake 30-35 minutes or until heated through. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
