How To Make baked macaroni with bacon medley
-
1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
-
2Coat the bottom and sides of a 10x15-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Add cubed American cheese.
-
3Fill a pot with lightly salted water, bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stir in the macaroni, and return to a boil. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the macaroni has cooked through but is still firm to the bite, about 8 minutes. Drain well.
-
4Heat olive oil in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Add raw bacon pieces, diced red and yellow peppers, and chopped purple onion. Cook and saute for 6 minutes or until the bacon pieces are brown and crispy and the vegetables are tender.
-
5Remove from heat. Season with Creole seasoning, ground cumin, garlic powder, and black pepper. Set aside.
-
6Heat margarine in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add heavy cream, evaporated milk, cream cheese, and half of the shredded Colby Jack and extra sharp cheddar cheeses. Stir well and bring it to a boil for 5 minutes until thickened.
-
7Add cooked macaroni and bacon medley; mix well for 3 minutes until blended. Remove from heat.
-
8Pour over a prepared baking dish and spread evenly with a rubber spatula. Sprinkle with remaining shredded cheeses.
-
9Bake for 30 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Cool completely for 8 minutes.
