A wonderful comfort food. You can add chopped ham and peas, too! Cut down on the cooking time by using a can of evaporated milk for the milk.

Ingredients
- 4 cups elbow macaroni, cooked
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 1/2 cups sour cream
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
- 10 ounces mild cheddar cheese, shredded
How To Make baked macaroni and cheese

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Rinse cooked macaroni with cold water and place in a 3 quart baking dish or 13x9 inch pan.

Step 2In a saucepan, melt butter and stir in flour. Gradually stir in milk and then add sour cream. Add salt and pepper. Cook over medium heat until sauce bubbles and thickens.

Step 3Reserve 1 cup of cheddar cheese and add the rest to the sauce, stir into the sauce until melted.

Step 4Pour sauce over macaroni and mix thoroughly. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. (You could also sprinkle on a little parmesan cheese if you like.)

Step 5Bake 1 hour, until bubbly and browned.
