angel hair pasta w/creamy mushroom sauce

This is a yummy meatless dish that is so creamy you will not miss the meat! I got in online several years ago. It turns out perfect every time. I have used low fat milk, cream cheese and butter with great results.

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces angel hair or your favorite pasta
  • 1 1/2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (about 1/2 cup)
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 3 ounces cream cheese -cut into cubes
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons snipped fresh chives

How To Make angel hair pasta w/creamy mushroom sauce

  • Step 1
    Cook pasta according to package directions, drain.
  • Step 2
    Meanwhile, for sauce, in a med. saucepan cook the mushrooms and onion in the butter till they are tender.
  • Step 3
    Stir in the cream cheese (I have used the low-fat and it tasted just as good) and salt and pepper.
  • Step 4
    cook and stir over low heat till cheese is melted.
  • Step 5
    gradually stir in the milk and chives; heat through.
  • Step 6
    pour sauce over pasta. toss to coat and serve hot.
