My Irish grandmothr and "Yankee" grandfather ran a diner for a few years with simple fare like this. It's third generation now.

Ingredients

  • can tomato paste
  • medium onions, yellow
  • large green bell pepper
  • pound ground beef

How To Make american chop suey

  • Step 1
    Saute chopped onion and pepper together until softened and drain.
  • Step 2
    Brown ground beef.
  • Step 3
    Blend onions, peppers, and ground beef in large fry pan and add one large can tomato paste with one to one and a half can of water. Bring to boil and simmer.
  • Step 4
    Meanwhile, cook pasta (rotini, elbow, your choice of maraconi).
  • Step 5
    Add pasta to onion, pepper, ground beef and tomato mixture, cover and simmer until ready.
