Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 large green pepper, diced
  • 2 teaspoons thyme
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1 tablespoon parsley
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 3 cans diced tomatoes - 14 oz can
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 pound elbow or shell macaroni-medium size shells if using

How To Make american chop suey

  • Step 1
Dice the onion and green peppers..not super fine just small chunks. Place butter in a pot and brown ground beef til cooked thru. Add the diced onions/peppers and continue to cook til they start to soften. Add tomatoes and seasonings...taste at this point to adjust seasonings to your liking. Let simmer 1-1 1/2 hours on low heat. *Or you can do all day in crock pot!* Just brown the meat/veggies then throw all in crock pot and cook on low 5 hrs.
  • Step 2
Cook Macaroni according to package directions, until al dente. Drain Macaroni, DO NOT RINSE! Add macaroni to pot of sauce and mix thoroughly. Ladle up in bowls! YUM!
  • Step 3
Serve with a nice salad, some crunchy italian bread and grated cheese of your choice on top! This is some really good comfort food!!!
