my whole family loves this dish
i can remember growing up in the country and having oxtails on saturday evenings for dinner oh how i miss those days!

Ingredients

3 lb
oxtails (cut up)
all purpose flour for dredging
3 Tbsp
vegetable shortening

onions, small white

bay leaf
1 c
mushrooms, fresh
salt &pepper
1 c
sliced carrots
1
clove garlic minced
2 c
dry red wine'beef stock or consomm'e

How to Make YUMMY OXTAILS

Step-by-Step

  • 1preheat oven to 350*roll oxtails in flour seasoned with salt and pepper
  • 2brown the meat in the shortening in a hot skillet and transfer to a casserole dish for baking
  • 3add carrots,onions &garlic to the pan and brown well
  • 4transfer this to the casserole and add the wine and seasonings.add enough beef stock to barely cover and sprinkle with salt and pepper
  • 5cover and bake for 3hrs.or until meat is tender
  • 6saut'e the mushrooms in butter and add to the casserole the last 30 min.of cooking
