my whole family loves this dish i can remember growing up in the country and having oxtails on saturday evenings for dinner oh how i miss those days!

Ingredients
- 3 pounds oxtails (cut up)
- - all purpose flour for dredging
- 3 tablespoons vegetable shortening
- 14 - onions, small white
- 1 - bay leaf
- 1 cup mushrooms, fresh
- - salt &pepper
- 1 cup sliced carrots
- 1 - clove garlic minced
- 2 cups dry red wine'beef stock or consomm'e
How To Make yummy oxtails

Step 1preheat oven to 350*roll oxtails in flour seasoned with salt and pepper

Step 2brown the meat in the shortening in a hot skillet and transfer to a casserole dish for baking

Step 3add carrots,onions &garlic to the pan and brown well

Step 4transfer this to the casserole and add the wine and seasonings.add enough beef stock to barely cover and sprinkle with salt and pepper

Step 5cover and bake for 3hrs.or until meat is tender

Step 6saut'e the mushrooms in butter and add to the casserole the last 30 min.of cooking
