- 1 pound ground chuck or round
- 1 pound ground pork
- 2 large onions chopped
- 1 small red bell pepper chopped
- 1/2 - green bell pepper chopped
- 1 1/2 cups corn mesa flour
- 1 tablespoon oregano
- 3 tablespoons ground cumin
- 1/3 cup chili powder
- 2 tablespoons garlicpowder
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 8 cups cold water
- 1 cup day old black coffee
- 1 - ( 28) ounces can tomato juice
- 2- ( 8 ) ounces cans tomato sauce
- 1- (28) ounce can chili beans
- 1 pound smoked sausage diced up
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

Step 1COOK THE GROUND MEATS WITH THE ONIONS, BELL PEPPER, ADD A LITTLE SALT. DRAIN OFF FAT.

Step 2IN A LARGE DUTCH OVEN, MIX MESA FLOUR, OREGANO, CUMIN, CHILI POWDER, SALT, BLACK PEPPER, INTO THE COLD WATER AND COFFEE; MIX UNTIL THERE IS NO LUMPS. ADD TOMATO JUICE, TOMATO SAUCE AND CHILI BEANS; BRING TO A BOIL. ADD SMOKED SAUSAGE AND BROWN SUGAR. REDUCE HEAT TO A SIMMER FOR 4 HOURS, STIRRING OFTEN.
