This chili is by far the best I have ever had! I am not being biased either, I really love chili and have had all different kinds. It has also won in two chili cook-offs. It's unique in the fact that it had 3 meats, 3 veggies and 3 beans. Also, the beef in au jus is the kicker! So delicious!

Blue Ribbon Recipe

This chili was a hit in the Test Kitchen. The mix of beans, meat and veggies was great. The sweet peppers were a great addition. I can see why it's award winning. It's a great shortcut chili recipe for a cool night. Serve with cornbread and the family will smile.

Note: We used Hormel Roast Beef Au jus (15 oz.). The Test Kitchen

Ingredients

ground beef
1 lb
steak, (choice meat, ex. rib eye, top sirloin, etc)

"fully cooked" prepared "beef roast in au jus"
2-16 oz
cans chili beans
2-16 oz
cans red kidney beans
2-16 oz
cans great northern (white) beans
1 large
jalapeño
1
choice of sweet pepper (red, orange, yellow)
1-16 oz
can sweet corn
2-16 oz
cans tomato sauce
1-16 oz
can tomato paste
1
packet "chili' seasoning
1 Tbsp
Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp
garlic powder
salt & pepper to taste

How to Make "Three Amigos Chili"

Step-by-Step

  • 1Add beans, corn, sauces, paste, and garlic to large pot and cook on medium heat.
  • 2Brown ground beef, add 1/4 packet "chili" seasoning to meat. Pour the rest into pot and add meat to pot when done browning. (drain depending on how lean the meat)
  • 3Grill steak (with dash of salt and pepper) to desired color, (medium usually chops best) chop and add to pot.
  • 4Heat up "fully cooked" microwavable "beef in au jus" per package directions, shred with two forks and add to pot.
  • 5Chop (or mince per preference) jalapeño and pepper and add to pot.
  • 6Add garlic, salt and pepper (to taste) and cook on low for 30-45 min.
