You know those flyers that get tucked into your bag at the grocers? Well,several years ago this was in a bag from the local butchers shop. For once, I was glad that I took the time to read it.This brat recipe has become a family fall favorite. Even the picky five year old grand-son likes it!

Ingredients
- 12 - brats
- 4 cups saurkraut,rinsed and drained well
- 1 cup applesauce
- 1/2 cup apple juice
- 1 medium onion-sliced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 large apple-cored and cubed-peeled if you wish
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- - salt and pepper-to taste,i usually add only pepper
How To Make sweet & sour apple brats

Step 1In large sauce pan,simmer sauerkraut,applesauce and juice for 20 minutes,

Step 2In deep skillet,heat butter over medium heat,add onion and saute,stirring often until very soft about 10 minutes, add brown sugar and cook another 5 minutes till onions are carmelized.

Step 3Add apples and cook another 5 minutes

Step 4Add to sauerkraut with cinnamon and salt an pepper if using. Keep warm.

Step 5Grill brats outside over med-hot fire or indoors on stove top grill,5-7 mins,or until done.

Step 6Great served with boiled parsley potatoes and dark rye bread. Don't forget the spicy mustard.
