Swedish Meatballs are an absolutely comforting food. It's so good.

Ingredients

  • MEATBALLS
  • 3 slices white bread, crust cut off and cubed
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • SWEDISH GRAVY
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • chives, for garnish

How To Make swedish meatballs

  • Step 1
    Place the bread in a bowl and grate the onion into the bread. Add the milk. mix well. Let sit for 1 minute.
  • Step 2
    Add the ground beef and ground pork, the eggs, garlic salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Step 3
    Add the oil to a saucepan and brown the meatballs in batches until browned on all sides. They won't be done in the middle but will cook in the gravy. Remove the meatballs to a plate.
  • Step 4
    Add the butter to the same pan and whisk in the flour to make a roux.
  • Step 5
    Slowly pour in the beef stock. Add the meatballs back into the pan.
  • Step 6
    Cook 8 to 10 minutes. Stir in the heavy cream.
  • Step 7
    Serve over mashed potatoes and garnish with the chives.
