This is 1 of the many recipes that I have developed over my lifetime of outdoor life.

Ingredients

  • 1 - squirrel, cut up
  • - all purpose flour
  • - salt and pepper
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons butter
  • 7 cups boiling water
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 cup corn
  • 3 - potatoes, cubed
  • 3 medium onions, sliced
  • 2 cups tomatoes, canned
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

How To Make squirrel stew

  • Step 1
    Dredge squirrel pieces in flour, salt, and pepper.
  • Step 2
    Brown in butter.
  • Step 3
    Add squirrel and all ingredients except the tomatoes to the boiling water.
  • Step 4
    Cover and simmer for 1 to 2 hours.
  • Step 5
    Add the tomatoes and continue to simmer for another hour.
