  • 6 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 2 large
    sweet onions, cut into 1/4" thick slices
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt and pepper each
  • 14 oz
    smoked turkey dinner sausage cut into 4 equal pieces
  • 4
    hot dog buns, cut horizontally in half, toasted
  • 1/2 c
    brown mustard

How to Make Smoked Sausage Sandwich with caramelized Onions


  1. Heat in a large skillet on medium heat; add onions, salt and pepper. Cook covered, 15 to 20 minutes or until onions are golden brown and soft, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; keep warm. Grill sausage 8 to 10 minutes, turning frequently, until thoroughly heated. Remove from grill; keep warm. Spread mustard over cut surfaces of buns; place sausage pieces in buns. Top with onions and serve. Refrigerate leftovers.
