I experimented a few times before coming up with this sure fire way to serve lamb shanks. Tehy are so tender and yummy, I never have any leftover.

Ingredients

  • 4 - lamb shanks
  • - salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup fresh sliced mushrooms
  • 3 - sliced carrots
  • 1 - diced onion
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 can diced tomatoes drained
  • 2 tablespoons fresh minced rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 - bay leaf
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 can mild flavored beer
  • 1 1/2 cups orzo pasta, uncooked

How To Make slow cooker lamb shanks

  • Step 1
    Heat olive oil in pan. Salt and pepper lamb, brown on all sides and place in crock pot.
  • Step 2
    Add remaining ingredients except orzo. Cook on high for 2 hours. Then low for about 6 more hours.
  • Step 3
    Remove meat from crock and keep warm. Remove sauce and veggies from crock, place in non-stick frying pan, cook on high for about 15 minutes stirring to keep from burning, until some of the juice has cooked down. Add orzo cook for about 15-20 minutes or until softened. Blot with papertowels to remove excess oil. Serve lamb on top of orzo and veggies.
