I experimented a few times before coming up with this sure fire way to serve lamb shanks. Tehy are so tender and yummy, I never have any leftover.

lamb shanks
salt and pepper
1 Tbsp
olive oil
1 c
fresh sliced mushrooms
sliced carrots
diced onion
2 clove
minced garlic
1 Tbsp
worcestershire sauce
1 c
beef broth
1 can(s)
diced tomatoes drained
2 Tbsp
fresh minced rosemary
1 tsp
dried oregano
bay leaf
1/4 tsp
1 can(s)
mild flavored beer
1 1/2 c
orzo pasta, uncooked

How to Make Slow cooker lamb shanks


  • 1Heat olive oil in pan. Salt and pepper lamb, brown on all sides and place in crock pot.
  • 2Add remaining ingredients except orzo. Cook on high for 2 hours. Then low for about 6 more hours.
  • 3Remove meat from crock and keep warm. Remove sauce and veggies from crock, place in non-stick frying pan, cook on high for about 15 minutes stirring to keep from burning, until some of the juice has cooked down. Add orzo cook for about 15-20 minutes or until softened. Blot with papertowels to remove excess oil. Serve lamb on top of orzo and veggies.
