smoked sausage au gratin casserole

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 pound smoked sausage or kielbasa
  • 1 1/2 cups onion, chopped
  • 1 box au gratin potatoes
  • 3 cups hot water
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups carrots, chopped
  • 20 oz bags chopped broccoli
  • 3 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

How To Make smoked sausage au gratin casserole

  • Step 1
    Cook sausage and onion in oil until onion is tender. In the meantime, run frozen broccoli under running hot water to thaw.
  • Step 2
    Add potatoes, water and pepper and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Stir in carrots and continue to simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Add thawed broccoli and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
  • Step 5
    Finally, add cheddar, stirring just until cheese has melted.
  • Step 6
    Serve immediately
