Ingredients

  • 1 large sweet onion
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 1/2 cups corn muffin mix
  • 1 - egg- beaten
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 cup cream style corn
  • 2 dashes hot pepper sauce
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon dill weed
  • 1 1/4 cups shredded cheddar cheese

How To Make onion shortcake

  • Step 1
    PEEL AND SLICE ONION. COOK IN BUTTER UNTIL TENDER. ADD WATER, HEAT AND SET ASIDE.
  • Step 2
    IN BOWL, MIX SOUR CREAM, SALT, DILL, AND 1/2 CUP OF CHEESE. ADD TO ONION MIXTURE.
  • Step 3
    COMBINE MUFFIN MIX, EGG, MILK, CORN, AND HOT PEPPER SAUCE. TURN INTO GREASED 8" SQUARE BAKING PAN.
  • Step 4
    SPREAD ONION MIXTURE ON TOP, OF CORN BREAD MIX, AND SPRINKLE WITH REST OF THE CHEESE. BAKE AT 425* FOR 24-30 MINUTES. CUT INTO SQUARES, TO SERVE.
