My hubby loves ham and beans, and as much as I never really had them before, I made some alterations to what his mother used to make, and came up with this. He seems to enjoy it, and I must say I might have to agree! :)

Method:
Slow Cooker Crock Pot

Ingredients

  • 16 oz
    package navy beans
  • 6-8 c
    water
  • 3/4 c
    diced onion
  • ·
    salt and pepper
  • ·
    ham hock to season, and extra ham to add
  • 2 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    dry mustard
  • 1 Tbsp
    dark karo or molasses

How to Make Navy Beans and Ham

Step-by-Step

  1. Soak beans. Chop onion into crockpot. Put in ham hock but reserve extra ham. Add beans, water, mustard, sugar and karo. Cover and cook on high 6-8 hours or until beans are tender. Then add salt and pepper to taste, and reserved ham. Cook on low 1-2 hours.
