Ingredients
- 454 grams lean lamb
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 cup currants
- 2/3 cup coarsely cut figs
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup dry lentils
- 4 cups beef broth
- 1 cup diced turnip with tops

Step 1Cut lamb into 1/2 inch pieces

Step 2Salt and pepper the lamb well

Step 3Brown the lamb in melted butter

Step 4Add the cup of chicken broth and simmer for 45 minutes or until lamb is tender.

Step 5Drain the liquid.

Step 6Bring the lentils to a boil in the broth

Step 7Then simmer for 15 minutes.

Step 8Combine cinnamon, salt, basil and stir into diced turnip.

Step 9Add turnip, currants and figs to the lentils and simmer for 10 minutes.

Step 10Stir lamb into lentils and serve.
