Martini Mashed Potato Bar
I made this for the 4th yesterday,it was a hit! ( not all of these toppings!) Everyone had a great time making up their favorite concoctions.
Everyone had fun, I had requests to do that again, and I will,I've got more potato topping ideas.
You could also do this with baked potatoes instead of mashed.
- yukon gold potatoes
- salt and pepper to taste
- cream or milk
- butter,sour cream,wasabi,corn,toasted bread crumbs,fried onion straws,steamed broccoli,cheddar cheese,caramelized onions,cream cheese,salsa,chile,gravy,mushrooms,ground beef in gravy,cottage cheese,crumbled bacon,sautéed red and yellow bell peppers,
- shredded beef,additional salt,pepper,cayenne,dried or fresh herbs,minced garlic,roasted garlic,pulled pork,chopped ham,diced tomatoes,horseradish,pesto,artichoke hearts,cilantro,roasted chicken,chives,chicken livers,feta,shrimp,etc
How to Make Martini Mashed Potato Bar
- 1Wash potatoes. Peel,slice ,steam until tender.
Using a hand mixer, ricer or potato masher, mash potatoes until smooth, season with salt, pepper, and butter. Add cream to make soft and creamy, stir well to mix and mash out any lumps.
I put the potatoes in a chafing dish to keep hot or you could scoop potatoes in a martini glass or a bowl and provide bowls of toppings for guests to make their own.
I put the martini glasses next to the potatoes ,then the toppings and made one dish so my guests got the idea of what to do and they took it from there!
