Every good Louisiana cook has several good Etouffee recipes....here is one.

4 lb
shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 c
chopped onion
1/2 c
chopped bell pepper
1/4 c
chopped celery
1 stick
margarine or butter
8 oz
can tomato soup
louisiana red hot, salt and pepper to taste
cooked long grain rice

How to Make Louisiana Shrimp Etouffee


  • 1Saute shrimp, the "Louisiana trinity" (onion, bell pepper and celery) in margarine.
  • 2Add tomato soup and simmer about 30 to 40 minutes. Season with salt, pepper and Louisiana red hot sauce.
  • 3Serve over rice with Louisiana red hot sauce on the side in case additional is desired.
