Ingredients

  • 1 pound tuna steak
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons each mirin
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 4 cups prepared sushi rice
  • 3 sheets toasted nori
  • pickled ginger

How To Make inside out tuna sushi

  • Step 1
    Brush the tuna with sesame oil and sear in a hot pan for about 1 minute on each side.
  • Step 2
    Mix the ginger, soy sauce, mirin, and lemon juice. Place the tuna in the marinade and let sit for 2 hours. Cut the tuna into 32 rectangles.
  • Step 3
    Place 1/2 the sushi rice on a sushi mat and roll into a cylinder. Repeat with the remaining sushi rice. Cut the rolled sushi into 32 disks. Cut the nori into squares,
  • Step 4
    Place 4 disks of rice on 8 plates. Top with the nori then the tuna. Drizzle the marinade over top.
