honey mustard braised chicken
I created this braised chicken recipe with the addition of honey mustard. It goes great with a side of wild rice, mac and cheese, or potatoes au gratin.

- 8 large fresh chicken thighs (skin-on)
- 2 medium shallots, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups honey mustard, divided

- 1 packet dry onion soup mix
- 2 tablespoons crushed red pepper flakes
- 2 teaspoons sea salt mixed with black pepper
How To Make honey mustard braised chicken
-
Step 1Heat olive oil in large skillet over medium heat; cook chicken thighs in the hot oil until browned, about 5 minutes per side. Remove chicken thighs from the skillet. Transfer to a large bowl and set aside.
-
Step 2Cook and stir chopped shallots in the same skillet until softened, about 5 minutes.
-
Step 3Stir in garlic; cook and stir until fragrant, about 1 minute.
-
Step 4Stir in 1 cup honey mustard, heavy cream, dry onion soup mix, red pepper flakes and sea salt/black pepper until thoroughly combined.
-
Step 5Add remaining honey mustard over the chicken thighs in the bowl; mix well.
-
Step 6Return chicken thighs to the skillet, cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until chicken thighs are tender and no longer pink inside, 25 to 30 minutes.
