Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh beans
  • 1 cup fresh carrots, chunked
  • 2 cups new potatoes
  • 1/2 cup salted butter
  • 1/2 cup cereal cream
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1/2 cup water or chicken broth

How To Make hodge podge

  • Step 1
    Cover beans and carrots with salted water in a pot, bring to a boil for 30 minutes. Add potatoes, and cook for another 30 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Stir in butter and cream.
  • Step 3
    Whisk flour and 1/2 cup water or chicken stock. Pour over vegetables.
  • Step 4
    Cook for 5 minutes to thicken sauce.
  • Step 5
    Remove from stovetop and serve hot.
  • Step 6
    Variations: Chunk turnip can be added when beans and carrots are added. Fresh peas can be added when potatoes are added.
