How to Make Hodge Podge
- Cover beans and carrots with salted water in a pot, bring to a boil for 30 minutes. Add potatoes, and cook for another 30 minutes.
- Stir in butter and cream.
- Whisk flour and 1/2 cup water or chicken stock. Pour over vegetables.
- Cook for 5 minutes to thicken sauce.
- Remove from stovetop and serve hot.
- Variations: Chunk turnip can be added when beans and carrots are added. Fresh peas can be added when potatoes are added.
