For some reason I am craving green bean casserole, when a sandwich using green beans and ham were the ingredients for a sandwich contest in the group the week ending 8/5/11. Then I thought about scalloped potatoes and cheese.. So here goes my entry, try it and let me know if you were satisfied!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound green beans steamed or microwaved
  • 6 small yukon gold potatoes, sliced and cooked
  • 1 pound baking ham, cooked and chopped
  • 1 can cream of chicken/or celery soup
  • 1 package grated cheddar cheese, 1 cup
  • 1/2 cup milk, heated
  • 8 slices rye bread, with or without seeds
  • PREHEAT THE OVEN TO 350 DEGREES.
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard

How To Make ham-green-beans-cassandwich

  • Step 1
    In a round casserole,sprayed with Pam, layer ham, potatoes, green beans.
  • Step 2
    In a bowl mix cream of chicken or celery soup with milk, and blend in the grated cheese, and add the dry mustard.
  • Step 3
    Pour the mixture from the bowl onto the casserole ingredients. Bake for about 30 minutes, until soft and lightly browned on top.
  • Step 4
    Edit this part: Using a Panini Pan, place the sandwich in the pan and cook until browned. OR-Toast the rye bread if desired, spoon about a cup of casserole onto each of four slices of toast, and for crunch add French's Onion Rings, and a top layer of toast. Cut and serve with dill pickle!.
