My rendition of my Grandpa’s stew he would make with the string beans grown in his garden

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
- 16 ounces sweet or mild italian sausage links
- 1 medium yellow onion rough chopped
- 2 large cloves of garlic rough chopped
- 28 oz cans crushed tomatoes + 1 can of water
- 28 oz cans diced tomatoes
- 10 3/4 oz cans condensed tomato soup
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 - bay leaves
- 2 teaspoons italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 16 ounces pepperoni stick cut into 1/2“ slices
- 4-5 medium russet potatoes peeled and diced into ¾” cubes
- 1 1/2 pounds fresh string beans (green beans) cleaned and rinsed
- - parmesan cheese, butter and italian bread for serving
How To Make grandpa‘s stew

Step 1Pour oil in large heavy bottom stock pot over medium heat

Step 2Cook sausage in pot, remove cut into 1/2" pieces and set aside

Step 3Add onions and cook translucent

Step 4Add garlic cook 1 minute more

Step 5Add crushed, diced tomatoes, condensed tomato soup, water, bay leaves, sugar and remaining dried seasoning. Mix Well

Step 6Stir in Sausage, Pepperoni, potatoes and string beans. Mix well and bring to a simmer

Step 7Lower heat and cover for three hours or longer

Step 8Remove and discard Bay leaves

Step 9Serve topped with parmesan cheese and buttered italian bread. Enjoy!
