I thought the whole world knew what this Hamburger Casserole was until I married and moved to Virginia. This is my favorite dish! Ketchup is optional but you should try it with it at least once!!!! *If your not a cheddar cheese soup fan, this is also really good with cream of mushroom soup.

Ingredients For grammie's hamburger casserole

  • 1 pkg
    hamburger (ground)
  • 5 md
    potatoes
  • 5 lg
    carrots
  • 2 large can
    cheddar cheese soup
  • optional dash
    ketchup

How To Make grammie's hamburger casserole

    Turn oven on 350. Peel potatoes,and carrots. Slice and place in container with water covering potatoes. Brown hamburger meat in skillet with seasoning of choice,and strain. In another container, mix cheddar cheese soup. (I like to heat the soup, but doesn't really matter.Just mixes smoother.)

    In a large casserole dish pour a little bit of soup.(So potatoes don't burn) and arrange slices of potatoe to cover bottom of pan in a single layer. Then its a layer of hamburger meat, and a layer of carrot slices. Pour half of soup mixture over first layer.

    Repeat layering process. (potatoe, meat and carrot) Pour remaining soup over casserole. Cover with aluminum foil and bake. Enjoy!! *My family eats this dish with ketchup.Don't knock it til you've tried it!! :)
