Our family loves the feel-good meal of grilled cheese and tomato soup, but I was looking for something a little more, shall we say, fancy? I came up with this recipe when I had some leftover dip mix still in the refrigerator and thought it might taste good between potato bread and toasted. After a couple of enhancements, the Gourmet Grilled Cheese was born.

Easy to whip up, everyone will enjoy this gourmet grilled cheese alongside a bowl of tomato soup. With cream cheese, sharp cheddar cheese, and Parmesan cheese, it's a nice alternative to a plain grilled cheese. Chopped chives and ham add tons of flavor to the filling. We loved using Hawaiian bread for this sandwich. It's almost sweet next to the savory cheese mixture.

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 2/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped chives
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped ham
  • 1 clove crushed garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon Lawry's seasoned salt
  • 16 slices potato or Hawaiian bread
  • - butter for spreading

How To Make gourmet grilled cheese

  • Combine cream cheese, mayonnaise, cheddar cheese, and Parmesan cheese.
    Step 1
    Combine the cream cheese, mayonnaise, cheddar cheese, and Parmesan cheese.
  • Mix in chives, ham, and seasonings.
    Step 2
    Mix in the chives, ham, garlic, and Lawry's seasoning.
  • Butter one side of each slice of bread.

  • Spread the mixture on one side of each piece of bread.

  • Place second piece of bread on top and grill both sides until the filling has melted.

    Place the other piece of bread on top and grill in a fry pan over medium-high heat until the bread is golden brown and the filling has melted.
  • Cut the Gourmet Grilled Cheese into a diagonal.
    Step 6
    Remove from the heat and immediately cut the sandwich on the diagonal.
