Ingredients
- 1 knob fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
- 1 tablespoon creole seasoning
- 3 pounds bone-in fresh chicken thighs
- 4 tablespoons barbecue seasoning
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 4 teaspoons ground ginger, divided
- 2 cups regular barbecue sauce
- 3 tablespoons honey mustard
- 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
How To Make ginger oven baked barbecue chicken thighs

Step 1Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Coat with cooking spray.

Step 2Fill a large pot with water over medium heat. Add sliced ginger and season with creole seasoning. Stir together until combined.

Step 3Place chicken thighs in a pot with prepared boiling water and bring to a boil, about 5 minutes until the chicken thighs are no longer pink. Drain well.

Step 4Place chicken in a large bowl. Combine barbecue seasoning, black pepper, ground cumin, and 2 tablespoons ground ginger in a bowl; mix together until blended. Toss with the chicken.

Step 5Transfer onto a prepared baking sheet. Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes.

Step 6In a medium bowl, combine barbecue sauce, honey mustard, brown sugar and remaining ground ginger; whisk well.

Step 7Take the chicken thighs out of the oven. Baste the sauce all over the chicken thighs. Return to the oven for 10 minutes.
